Serious Microsoft trashing

The recent postponement of Vista has not been met with positive comments. There have been two hard hitting articles wondering if Microsoft has been starting to dig its own grave with the ever increasing Windows code base.

The New York times writes Windows Is So Slow, but why? … each new version of Windows carries the baggage of its past”.

Forbes Magazine says “Microsoft Vista: Not People Ready…The new programs are phenomenally complex, with scores of buttons and pull-down menus and myriad connections among various applications.”

The hottest trend right now is Ajax. It is about lightweight server-based code. Not 50 000 million lines of bloatware on your hard disc with animated 3D Windows that require new computers without improving the user interface.

Tgdaily has a very unusual and interesting analysis about Bill Gates’ keynote speech at Mix ‘06. The article is called called: Analysis: What’s eating Bill Gates?. The conference is about new Web technology, hosted by Microsoft, yet Bill Gates talks more about the XBOX 360, Media Center PCs and DHTML (technology from 1997) than Ajax and open Api’s.
