PSP 2.0 browser strengths and weaknesses
I managed to install the PSP 2.0 firmware yesterday. The installation was pretty easy. Using the browser is not that easy.
There are a couple of things that make the PSP a bad surfing machine.
- The lack of stylus (or mouse). I was not able to center the page in the browser in the screen shot below.
- There does not seem to be automatic roaming between access points. You have to set the access point you are using manually. The Pocket PC will do that automatically.
- Unresponsiveness of the browser. It took me 15 minutes to enter a url. It is hard to know what the browser is doing.
- No automatic scaling of pages or graphics makes it hard to read many sites. The resolution is too low for most sites to fit.
But the screen is spectacular for watching images. And it does support styles sheets and fonts which makes it look nice.

The PSP browser compared to an Ipaq 3715.
